![]() Todays green planet field trip was a success! Not only did the students have a great time exploring the amazing tropical rainforest ,but it was also very educational. Our tour guide Ms. Diane was a great teacher, she taught us all about the raintforest and how the animals and plants co-exist and survive together. When we first arrrived students were greated by two beautiful birds, they were then taken to the three different areas of the rainforest: the canopy, the midstory and the forest floor. Students got to get up close and personal with some beautiful macaws, we saw a toucan, different types of lizards, iguanas, snakes, a tarantula, and a sleepy sloth. Ms. Diane also let the students touch some of the slimey bugs like a millipede, which some students were more excited about than others. Something also very exciting we got to witness was a very small butterfly hatching out of its cacoon. It was great fun and afterwards the students enjoyed having a picnic in Safa park. ![]() This week our class enjoyed a lovely visit from the students in grade 3A. The students from 3A paired up with our class and read to them a classic folktale "The Gingerbread Man". To incorporate what we have been learning in class, I asked the grade 3 students to ask the kg's questions about the book after reading like who were the characters? What was the setting of the story, and was it a fiction story? Reading buddies allow older students the opportunity to develop fluency as well as a sense of pride in their accomplishments. It is fun for the younger students to have someone different reading to them ,as well as it sets a good example for them to look up to as they admire the older students and want to read just like them. Afterwards the grade 3 students helped our class decorate their very own gingerbread men ,which are on display in the KG outside hallway. As a surprise the grade 3s brought in real gingerbread cookies for our class to taste. It was a successful morning and we look forward to having them for a visit again soon! Check out some photos below. ![]() In science class this week, the students enjoyed exploring the topic of living and non- living things through a nature walk. Each student had a clip board with a t-chart where they had to record what they observed around the school as we walked around. They then were to decide whether or not the things they observed were living or non-living. They drew pictures and labeled their findings. Show your children these videos to reinforce the topic at home: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BEz7RPvQCAI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWBrusrCmX Dear Parents,
Thank you all for joining us today for the Winter concert! The students really ejoyed performing and although some of them were shy infront of all the parents they worked very hard practising for this day. I think it's fair to say they did a great job and of course they were absolutely adorable in their costumes. Hip Hip Horay! I also wanted to thank all of the parents who collaborated with one another and managed to put together these adorable costumes. Great work! Thank you for your dedication and efforts . Happy Holidays! :) MS. ALANA |
