You might be wondering, what is purposeful play?
Play is the primary way in which children explore their surroundings. Purposeful play is when teachers intentionally plan play experiences that are enjoyable to children, and facilitate their exploration to reinforce or extend their learning. Educators can achieve learning outcomes by planning and creating play experiences that specifically target our learning goals. For example below you will see students playing in their new pizza parlor. Students are using their reading skills when looking and ordering from the menus. They are exploring math concepts when they are counting the money at the cash register and so much more. Check out all the amazing things KG2 has been up to below. |
