![]() What is drawings by me? Dear parents, "Drawings by Me" is an art-based program specializing in personalized printing of your child’s artwork. It reproduces these treasured masterpieces onto greeting cards, calendars, coffee mugs, notebooks and more. Each product features a full color print of your child’s artwork and includes their name and age. Not only does the program support the arts across all disciplines, it also raises a lot of money for the yearbook program and allows us to give the students who make the yearbook one for free. This week I explained the program to the students in class and together we decided to draw our families. I went step by step of how to draw a family and that we needed to use a lot of colors so it would be bright and colorful. The outcome was some really adorable pictures that you may want to keep forever. I have sent home the pictures in a special envelope with options on the back for you to choose from. If you are interested in buying one of the many options please send it back to school enclosed with the money by November 6th. Check out some of the art below.

![]() Play is essential to children's development because it contributes to the cognitive, physical, social, and emotional well-being.Today the students were very excited about their new water station located in playground 1. During recess they had the opportunity to explore and collaborate with their classmates at this station through play. At first students could not figure out how to get the water from the bucket into the watering can, to pour into the funnels. Each student had their own idea of how to solve the problem, but it wasn't until Ella and Yousuf decided to work together they realized the best way was to lift the bucket as a team. It was great to see the students interacting with one another and participating in decision making. Children are natural problem solvers, and it is important to give them opportunities like these to grow in their problem solving abilities. ![]() Today's field trip was a success! We headed over to Funky Lanes, a modern state-of-the art bowling center in Arabian Center. They were all mesmerized by the cool and fun lights and designs. Students truly enjoyed using their newly learned science knowledge on forces of motion and testing it out first hand in a real life setting. Students were able to see that for bowling they needed a strong force to push the heavy ball down the long lane. For some this was difficult at first, but by the end they were all independently taking turns getting the heavy bowling ball down the lane and knocking down the pins! Golfing was very exciting for the students because it was glow in the dark! The mini golf holes were all designed distinctively with different contours and interactive obstacles which made the game more interesting and challenging for all the students. The children quickly realized they would need to use a different force for the golf, a softer more gentle force otherwise their golf balls would end up flying away. Over all it was a great day. Check out our photos below and see! Science standards : PS2A: Forces and motion
![]() Today the students enjoyed having a visitor from the dental office come give them a presentation on good dental hygiene. The children were shown the proper way to brush and the importance of brushing teeth twice a day. They even got to go home with a brand new toothbrush! Check out some of the photos below! :) ![]()
Dear parents,
In science class we are currently working on unit 1: Forces of Motion. To help reinforce what we have been learning in class, ask your child what the following terms mean: push, pull, force, motion. Have them show you. There is a great video on brainpopjr.com about pushes and pulls. To access brainpopjr.: visit www.casdubai.com scroll over the learning tab and choose student services select e-resources pick brainpopjr. select science forces and pushes and pulls Watching videos will help reinforce what we learn in class. There are also some fun online games (click below) for students to play on this topic.

![]() Raz-kids What is Raz- Kids ? Comprehensive Leveled Reading Resources for Kids Raz-Kids is an award-winning teaching product that provides comprehensive leveled reading resources for students. With hundreds of eBooks offered at 29 different levels of reading difficulty, it's easy to put the right content in every student's hands. Kids access their leveled text through an interactive learning portal designed to keep them motivated and engaged. Every eBook is available in online and mobile formats, and allows students to listen to, read at their own pace, and record themselves reading. Students then take a corresponding eQuiz complete with an extended answer response to test comprehension and determine future instruction needs. Once a child has read ten or more of the leveled eBooks and passed each of the corresponding eQuizzes, they advance on to the next reading level where they have access to lengthier and more difficult text. How does my child login? I have printed and laminated each child their own login and password and sent it home in their folders.
