Today KG2B heard a biographical story about the life of Helen Keller, who was blind and deaf. They learnt that a person who is blind and deaf cannot see or hear , but use other forms of communication such as sign language and braille. The students then got to make their very own braille names.
![]() Students have been learning and exploring their 5 senses through hands on activities. This week we explored their sense of smell and touch . Students were given mystery smells and had to make hypothesis and recorded their ideas in their science journals. Today they were given 5 mystery sacks. Each sack had a different item inside. Students used texture words to describe what they were feeling. In the end they got to find out if their hypothesis were correct. Today KG2B Sand-kittens practiced collaboration and responsibility. We talked about what box appeal is, and how it is our responsibility as good citizens to give back to people in our community that are in need. Teaching children about charity gives them a healthy sense of compassion for others. We discussed what items we were donating and why someone might need these particular items. The students worked together to collect the donations and nicely pack the boxes. The children then came up with the most thoughtful idea, to make beautiful cards to put inside of the boxes. I was so proud of them!
