![]() Dear Parents, Yesterday here at CAS we celebrated the 45th U.A.E national day. What a lovely celebration it was! Students enjoyed tasting traditional foods, watching traditional dancing by our very own classmate Haya Alabbar, taking photos with a falcon and camel, and making U.A.E related crafts. I would also like to take a second to thank Mr. Al Bloshi (Ali's Father) for the lovely National day gifts he sent for each child in the class. The students were very grateful for everything. Check out the photos of their fun day below. :)

![]() A big thank you to all of the parents for all of the donations for the maintenance workers. As a class we were able to donate a large box of goods to the maintenance workers that do so much for us and the school on a daily basis. Our class also made a lovely card to go with our gift and the students really enjoyed learning about how they can make the world a better place by giving thanks and showing our appreciation to others. This was a great opportunity to help children learn about charity and the importance of reaching out to others in times of need. ![]() Upcoming class trip to “The Green Planet” ( December 8th) The Green Planet is an unparalleled offering which will appeal to nature lovers and explorers of all ages while providing educational insights on the delicate balance of nature on Planet Earth. It is built around the desire to contribute to environmental consciousness in the region. As part of this priority, The Green Planet will aim to not only impress students and teachers with a novel green oasis in the city, but at the same time ensure that they enjoy an up-close educational and fun experience. Life in the rainforests is competitive and survival tough. Rainforest plants and animals have developed complex relationships with other species in order to survive this diverse environment. The Rainforest Relationships program gives students the opportunity to explore these complex relationships and learn about how working together is key to survival, while also getting to know the indigenous plants and animals. We will be focusing on the differentiation of the rainforests habitats and the meaning of relationships in a rain forest community. The field trip links to our science standard this unit: K-LS1-1. Use observations to describe patterns of what plants and animals (including humans) need to survive. ![]() With the American Holiday Thanksgiving coming up next week we have been discussing in class the meaning of gratitude and have shared things we are all thankful for. Teaching kindergartners about gratitude can be a tricky concept however a very important one. By learning gratitude at a young age children become sensitive to the feelings of others, develop empathy and other life skills. In class the students were all given one feather to add to our turkey for our door display . On the feathers they wrote what they were thankful for . Afterwards they drew pictures and wrote about it. See some pictures below of some of the students work . You can also come into the class and see their work displayed on our work wall. ![]() Today students had a wonderful morning taking part in science day! We finished off our first reading unit "The Five senses" by exploring the five senses through hands on science exploration. Students got to visit 5 different classrooms where they further explored the sense of sight, smell, hearing, touching and tasting through different hands on activities. Check out some fun photos below. ![]() Dear Parents, It is important that your child comes to school everyday with a healthy snack and lunch. At CAS we refer to it as "Brain food". Our school follows a healthy eating policy and this is because we want to set a healthy example and teach children from a young age the importance of healthy eating. Nutrition (everything your child eats and drinks) is very important to their growth and development. Benefits of good nutrition for children are :

![]() Math Talk- What is it and why is it important? Math talk is incorporating math concepts and using math vocabulary (addition, subtraction exc. ) in everyday conversations with your child. Children benefit when parents verbalize and show kids math in basic household tasks. Opportunities to explore math with your child pop up every where. Going to the grocery store, cooking dinner or even ordering pizza can be a time to use math talk. Here are some ideas: 1. At the grocery store have your child count out an item that you may need. 2. Order pizza, ask your child to count the amount of slices there are and how many they will eat. After they eat, ask them how many are left. 3. Let your child help with cooking. Have them measure items or count out ingredients that you may need. Most importantly make it fun! ![]() Dear Parents, In reading we have been discussing the 5 senses. Things you may review at home to reinforce what we have learned in class are
