![]() Play is essential to children's development because it contributes to the cognitive, physical, social, and emotional well-being.Today the students were very excited about their new water station located in playground 1. During recess they had the opportunity to explore and collaborate with their classmates at this station through play. At first students could not figure out how to get the water from the bucket into the watering can, to pour into the funnels. Each student had their own idea of how to solve the problem, but it wasn't until Ella and Yousuf decided to work together they realized the best way was to lift the bucket as a team. It was great to see the students interacting with one another and participating in decision making. Children are natural problem solvers, and it is important to give them opportunities like these to grow in their problem solving abilities.
