Building Beaver Dams The children were busy designing and building beaver dams this week during science. We have been discussing the needs of animals and the ways animals adapt to their environment. The beavers are a perfect example of a way animals change the environment to suit their needs. We extended this research by completing the STEM activity of engineering a small sized beaver dam. They worked in groups to choose which materials they thought would work best to stop the flow of water. Only one group were successful but the children had plenty of fun trying to problem solve. The children got to see what the UAE coral reef is made up of and also got to learn about the history of Dubai and famous pearl trade on Dhow boats.
