Congratulations to Mira and Adam who have both shown they are respectful and responsible students the last two weeks. Ms.sorcha has rewarded them by letting them take home Max, my (pretend) pet rabbit. Make sure you hide your carrots!! Have fun Adam!

In math this week we have been focusing on numbers 0-5, breaking the numbers up and making them in different ways, reading the number words and putting them in order. The kids have been having fun in solving hands on group activities, owning their own learning in their math journals, problem solving puzzles and using ICT counting games. (Math games found here if you would like to use at http://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/3-5-years/counting) In ELA we have been finishing nursery rhymes with BABA Black sheep, the kids were asked to act out a dialogue here. https://goo.gl/photos/b9atT1MRvf2b4rLAA We were also learning about the fable the lion and the mouse, make sure to ask your kids if little friends can be a GREAT friends! Here are some pictures of the children acting out the story https://goo.gl/photos/CdBCRWcJgKtQL51o7. Of course always time for learning through play in the discovery room. Here we can see real life math skills. Yunju and Sofia.S were using money to set up a shop, Xenia decided she would like to do some addition on the white board while teaching some of the other children what she knows. Issa, Rancen, Hassan, Mira and Diyako had fun aiming with ball throwing while identify numbers on the board. Mira and Issa were using the sand table to measure the sand in different sized containers. Play is not just for fun, children need time to take what they have learning in class and apply it during play so that it is reinforced in their minds. I'm delighted to be your child's teacher this year. My aim as a teacher is to create a loving and fun learning environment for your child to grow in. I will provide them with the skills and knowledge they need, to help them feel proud of what they do here at CAS. |
